Thanks to the forum users for their great advice and info. We decided to replace the wooden skids on one of our shelters with new, metal coated skids and will be moving it soon. Just received yet another notice from planning this time saying that they've received complaints about the ongoing viability of our enterprise ? ??? Have we missed something? What has this got to do with planning? Our neighbours have made it clear they do not want us working the land next door and have probably raised these continuing complaints. However, what right do people have to question our business set-up? They are really keen to see us go! Any thoughts? Cheers!

They are just jel, if your business is in profit and you are able to prove you can pay yourself min wage at least then all is fine.

Hi,

As far as I know your viability will only be the concern of planning if you are living on site under temporary permission. With the changes in the planning law even that might be debateable.

Hi, this is a case of a council who does not understand their role. They should not be writing to you to inform you of peoples concerns, there is nothing in planning law about 'peoples concerns about viability.'

Keep a record of it and complain to the ombudsman regarding the actions of the council, they are completely out of order and should get a telling off. Or just laugh it off as the pathetic dealings of an inept council official, not exactly anything out of the ordinary, either way do keep a record as it could help you in the future.

Good luck.
