no need to say sorry SSD  :nyam:  i would have thought like you once upon a time….i take it you will be composting all your animal waste…no different really, except, the animals produce more...

we have bought some composting bins…so no digging out the ground…simply open a door at the bottom, then load into wheelbarrow..then put on christmas trees…once composted down..

and being totally honest..we had no intentions of living off grid….hated the thought of not having the luxuries…until we didn't have them, then found out, how easy  it was to actually live without them..or to live with a genny and other back ups that don't bring in unknown bills….ours is paid up front..so no nasty shocks

ok!!! we don't have any dependents to worry about…so this makes this route easy for us

the other thing…if we do ever gain planning for a dwelling, i wouldn't put it where the static is…after this rain, we have learnt loads more about the land,

If I was a single man id live like it without a doubt, I've spent many weekends with just a sleeping bag and small stove sleeping under the stars and shooting during the day for grub .... But I've now got a 3 year old boy and a fiancé, don't get me wrong if they had to poop in a bucket and run off a genny they would, my misses and myself have traveled all over the uk and Europe in our camper with a crappy old genny and a porta loo to serve us........ But life is going to be hard for the next few years and although I could do without life's little luxuries id still like to keep them for my boy and my misses as sort of a thankyou/ appreciation for coming on this journey and agreeing to do it... I think it takes a special type of woman to let us men throw away the ' norm ' and risk it all on a whim that we hope to one day have planning and a house on our very own holding
