Planning Permission and 3.5 acres

I am shortly about to purchase or lease 3.5 acres of land classed as agriculture. The land has not been used for 25 years and is steeply sloped. It is overgrown with trees, one or two mature but mostly immature. (The immature ones keep calling me names!)
I want to erect a barn on it as soon as possible but want to stay outside of the planners. Will I be able to build something 15ft by 15ft with an apex roof? If so can I build several or just one!
Is it best to just go for planning permission?
Any advice would be brilliant.

You could however erect a 'shed' on the land and then make sure that you move it around regularly. Somewhere, we heard it said that there are plans afoot to make it necessary to move field shelters at least 3 times a year. Do not erect the shed on any kind of hardstanding as that would then make the shed appear to be permanent and not simply mobile.
You could of course always follow the advice in the book regarding a caravan and/or camping site.

Hi All
Just to pick up on where we left off. We built 2 sheds (4.8m square) and sure enough got a visit from planning enforcement. So we then placed on the land 2 storage containers and made sure they were highly visible. We then got a second visit from a different enforcement officer! This one asked us to remove the containers because we had 2 beautiful sheds! Cut the story short we were given permission to keep the one shed and one storage container!
We are now getting quotes for the bore hole and to put electricity to the land. I get the feeling at times that I would be lucky to gain permission to live here but I will persist.
In the meantime, after removing some trees, removing the stumps we now have a piece of land ready for some action. We have purchased 300 Blueberry bushes and will be planting these on the land during next winter. We will be planting out a forest garden and cut flower beds. We still have plenty of tidying up and we will be installing solar power to keep us going until we get the £1000 needed to install electric.
Any thoughts and ideas on how we might get permission to live here would be great.

Which way does your land face? Any chance of a wind turbine or solar panels? Cornwall County Council are granting permission for such things left right and centre! The only restriction appears to be whether the power stations can cope with it all.
