Hi  Dave
Just found your site today.
A recent planning application passed before my eyes (as a Parish Councillor) for a barn on 40 acres (Notification). It turned out to be enormous!  A month later a planning application went through for a septic tank, to service a WC & shower for workers both contracted  (H&SAW) and owners familly. A year later, a third application for two "agricultural buildings"- granted.
It's pretty obvious to me what's going on and good luck to them.
I have had 9 acres (with a further 10 "rented") for 15 years. We have a small "tractor shed" -self built in which my son has lived and farmed sheep for the past 5 years.  Could I get PP for a septic tank? There are no waterways or other chance of pollution etc etc.  Living in caravans etc for 5 years is OK in principle but portalooes still have to be emptied somewhere.  What do the planning authorities assume is happening?  I have read loads and loads on planning but have yet to see this issue addressed, and indeed have yet to find a way to build a very small "hay-loft" barn for myself.
Advice/insights would be very welcome.
