Nice.  1.7 l an hour is not bad for a 3 cylinder .   And the silent aspect is good,   personally i am putting all my next lot of cash into solar panels and new batteries.  I already have fantastic regulators and some panels,  and they are so cheap nowadays.

We use gas, ( bottled) for hot water and cooking at the moment.  we have a woodburner for heating and some cooking in winter. Gas cost for us is about £130 a year. I have 5 years supply of wood for the woodburner. As we generate a lot of offcuts from our sawmill.  We use the generator when we have the washing machines on. so not to kill the batteries.  The generators ( i largish 5.5kva and 1 small 1kva , both lister/petters run the workshop, and are very reliable and frugle. And my work landrover 200tdi stationwagon  has a dieselveg conversion and costs us less that 5p a litre  ( filters) .  All my family think that i am a crazy person and tight as a ducks a----.      I agree.   The most expensive thing we have is the landrover discovery td5  to run  ( about 25 miles to the gallon)  and i won't give that up because it's so nice to drive and warm and i can actually hear the stereo..  And the ice cream bill in summer is a bit steep  ( 2 litres of Mackies a day, any flavour).  That way we don't have to work too much to earn money and so can do stuff that we both like.    We have started to call our place a 'homestead' and not a farm now.  I love it.
