Thanks guys! It's all a bit of a mine field! I've read the book from cover to cover multiple times. Just completed on our own 20 acre agricultural piece of land and wish to open a rescue/petting farm. Does anybody have any advice?? The local council are saying this isn't an agricultural activity. The book says it is as long as "some of the animals are farmed to produce an income".

What i have found is.   Put up adequate but pleasant looking screening.  Build things slowly and discretely.  Keep the council on the backfoot/don't let them boss you about. Sell stuff at the gate. Be kind but firm to the neighbours.

We have a similar situation to you.  20 acres, 14 Llamas, 5 alpacas, 4 goats , 10 sheep, loads of chickens, horses, ponies,, and everyone knows we have animals, sell hay, animals, veg and eggs.  So we are left alone. And time without interference brings prizes.
