I heard that if you live in a caravan for 5 years you get automatic planning permission, is this true? If it is true what does the planning permission allow you to build? Could you build a decet sized 4 bed roomed house or would it just allow you to build a small bungalow? What other rules regulations would there be? If it is not true, is there another way that is similar in order to get automatic planning permission or is that just impossible to get?

Hi Jack, you won't get much help for your question here, we are not really interested in loop holes and automatic planning permissions (good luck with the 4 & 10 year rules although it does happen, 10 years is a long time to live in a mobile home undiscovered!) The theme of this forum is more towards building sustainable local business which incidentally require a dwelling for their proper running, it's not about the dwelling, it's about creating a sustainable future for the country.

But good luck and I wish you well with your path.

If you build a house and it's there and you can prove it you can apply to keep it (4 yr rule)
If you live in a mobile home for ten years undetected you can also apply for a certificate of lawfulness
Don't really see the difference between this route and getting pd on barns in fields with no business

I am not sure what you mean by this Shepie? I am interested :)

Personally I think it's crazy that a person can apply for an agriculturally tied temp dwelling for a genuine business, be denied, then apply to convert a barn on the site to a dwelling which has no ag tie, crazy days!

Sounds like things are going great at your place, well done.  :mole:
