Hi All
I was just looking for some advice and ideas really. We have recently taken occupation of a piece of land for the intention of buying. To afford to buy the land we need to get a business loan, but need to prove the business first. The owner has agreed to rent us the land for 2 years with the view if we can get the business proven, then buy it.
the land has a 700 m2 glass house and 9 poly tunnels and a total of about 6 acres.
My questions were about planning. We tried running the business (hydroponics) from a house we were (were) renting but we had a lot of power failures which meant we lost two crops. We have now moved a static caravan on to the property for the purpose of engineering work so we can perfect the process (it requires a lot of re work and redesign to get it to work well). The planning officers have taken a keen interest in the caravan and have started asking a lot of questions. We explained it was multipurpose, comfort shelter that provides additional seasonal workers accommodation and accommodation while we are conducting engineering work to get the hydroponics to a standard that is providing at least 75% of what we would expect. With the system a glass house that would have 5000 plants is now capable for holding 21,000 plants. at an average of £3 a kilo we are looking at at least £63,000 potential profit, so i think once all working i don't think viability is a question. None of this includes the rare breed chickens turkeys and ducks we breed. (more as regular spending money).
is this something we would be allowed to keep the caravan on and or what should we do that would make it possible??
Thanks in advance if anyone can help.
Howie
