Maximum size for a mobile field shelter?

is there a maximum size that mobile field shelters can be?

 

im considering making a 45 foot by 40 foot one on skids.

not as far as i am aware.  However planners can argue that if the field shelter is too large , then your 'intent' is not to use it as a mobile field shelter and so could require planning permission.  You might need to be prepared to demonstrate the fact that you move it to accomodate the needs of the animals. My chicken coop although only 16'x10' weighs nearly 1.5 tons ( concrete tile roof) and is moved yearly. We had a visit from the enforcement officer and she said it was 'all in order'.

i was going to build one to store my hay in until i get permission for a barn sorted out

 

and i will happily give the council a demonstration of it being moved

i wouldn't move the field shelter for the planners unless they had a court order. It would also be in order to negotiate some form of payment for your service.  I would suggest eighty quid to be reasonable

    You want them to know that you're not a pushover.

Our field shelter has been moved 4 times since we moved here and has not caused any problems. Do NOT however create a hardstanding under it. We used pallets in ours.
