We are buying a place with a borehole. The water analysis shows that the nitrates level is on the high side. I've been told that we can get a filter for this but internet research has just confused me! (it doesn't take a lot!) Anybody have any experience or advice?

We arranged for one of the companies that deal with borehole systems to give us a quote and lo and behold the quote mentioned what filters were required!

Having a nitrates level on the high side is not good though and if you are going to treat it yourselves, have the water tested again afterwards just in case. Indeed, perhaps the quote you are given may be one that you can accept so that you can have the job done professionally.

Alternatively, you could make it a condition of the purchase that the correct filtering system is installed before the completion date.
