Just as a matter of curiosity, why is the group called 'Hens' and not 'Chickens'?
Having said that, and then what about other kinds of poultry?

I thought Hens sounded cooler Plus, my experience with animals starts and ends with cats so am never sure of the words.
The idea of the social groups was for people to manage the forum for themselves. The main page is getting a little cluttered and finding information on large forums gets harder over time.
It would be good to switch towards having a set of forums related to the core content of the book (specialist stuff that Field to Farm is the authority on) and then the social area could become optional. People could subscribe to certain social groups and not get bothered by topics that they aren't interested in.
To give an example.. 'F2F Fest 2012' would make a good social group. Whoever creates the group would automatically get moderator options and it would create a forum for discussion (you can make it private or public etc). People would subscribe (you could approve or reject or leave it open) and the group owner could send messages to the subscribers with updates.
There's a bunch more stuff to these social groups. If anyone fancies creating one but needs a bit of help let me know. If we get a poultry group created I'll delete this hens group.
