Hi would it be possible to create pages to view offline - or is this down to my own ISP? I'm away from the internet a lot at the moment (not got it connected at the farm yet and a dongle apparently wouldn't work well there) - and I miss F2F!!!!! :(

If anyone knows how I can save pages to view offline please advise

Many thanks

We have discovered that if you do not sign out but always remain signed in whether your computer is on or not is helpful, because it saves us so much time as our internet connection comes and goes depending on the 'reception'.

Then when we do go online, we open all the subjects with new posts in a new tab and then they stay there until we close the actual tab. We use Firefox and even if the computer's battery runs out, when we start up the computer again, Firefox comes up with the comment, 'well this is embarassing' and asks us if we want the previous session restored. We cannot see any other way in which one can view posts offline.

Having said that, we too think it would be helpful if we had something similar to the Personal Filing Cabinet which one got with AOL, because we would love to be able to compose our replies offline - it would give us time to check what we put as we are always worried that we are going to lose our 'connection' and lose all that we had typed before it had time to be posted.

Yesterday I ran a tool to copy the entire site locally into static html pages. The intent was to package it up as a file that you could download and save locally.

Unfortunately our hosting company noticed the massively high usage and blocked my address. Then they shut down the site because I didn't respond (got busy at work).

It worked in that most of the pages could be viewed locally. The file is about 70mb so not too big. I forgot to get it to scan as a user so the planning permission pages just show "you need to login" after the first post, and obviously logging in locally won't work in static pages.

Could fix it but I'm too scared to run the tool again. I promised the hosting company that I wouldn't. If I get time I might set up another server here and run it again and fix the problems.

So for now I think you're stuck with needing an internet connection, sorry lol
