Hi

been looking at the possibility of entering the pig breeding business for my small holding after earlier advice and came across another forum topic earlier tonight relating to SMD (standard man days)

http://www.fieldtofa...o-live-on-site/

SMD article (275 days =1 full time employee)

http://www.cmis.cots...?Document=26392 (3 smd per sow)
http://democracy.thu...?Document=14930 (1.2 smd per 20 chickens)

John Nix Farm Management Pocketbook 40th edition (2010) seem a good place to check for SMD for future reference

it was our plan to start of with 12 sows and breed from there so if each sow had on average a litter of 8 all year round would this suffice ???? we plan also in keeping around 100 free range chickens too.

anyone any ideas?

Hi Robbo

This case seems to fit the bill.
