Description

We live in The Lake District and have land that we love and on which we raise our small alpaca herd (currently 14). We believe that we have a moral and natural right to live on our land - off grid, quietly etc, and saving the planet's resourses by using less and using what we have more efficiently. we are working towards acheiving this goal. Welocme to all who are similar mind. Deborah & Mark

  • We recently had a situation where Northwest Electricity needed access to enter our land to replace a telephone pole.

Instead of contacting us to arrange a date and time when it was convenient to allow them access to our secure site - the contractor took it upon himself to force entry to the land by removing the padlock and chain and proceeded with the work!

When we complained we were told that the contractor "had no reason to believe that access had been denied." So apparently a chained and padlocked gate does in no way imply that access is denied. Hmmmmm.......

North West Electricity condone their contractors forcing entry when they want to access land. I wonder if they would have done the same if they needed to gain entry to our house?!

Has any other land owner been on the receiving end of this arrogant type of behaviour from utility comapnies?
