Hi All,

Some advice if possible please. I am about to clean out our polytunnel and want to clean the polythene. Which product would you recommend, bearing in mind this is 36ft long so largish job to do. Also the staging inside is metal frame with wood on the top. What would you recommend to clean the wood?

Many Thanks

Hi - we were advised to clean our polythene with a cleaning agent called Algon. The wood which has been used is tanalised timber and all we were advised was that should we have any damage to the wood (including drill holes, etc) then to treat it with ENSELE end grain preservative to maintain the integrity of the original treatment. However, we remember parents using Jeyes Fluid for ALL outdoor cleaning jobs including wood as it kills bugs and bacteria and leaves the items germ-free and shall be using it on our polytunnel.

I would speak to a manufactuter, have first hand knowledge of applying some thing to a surface and resulting in discoloutation,or damage.

The Algon mentioned is advised by First Tunnels and supplied by them as is the other products mentioned in our post.

Just to put your mind at rest.

Thanks guys. We purchased our tunnel from First Tunnels so there shouldnt be a problem with what you suggested. Just Have to get rid of the weeds and nettles first.
