Hi Dave,

Just had a sudden panic!
I am a garden designer and it is my plan to use the land to create landscaped gardens alongside a model farm and farm shop.  Am I right in assuming this would be classed as agricultural/horticultural or would we need planning permission for a garden?

Hi you would require planning permission if you intended to change agricultural land into a garden that was attached to a dwelling or its garden. If you were operating as a horticultural business selling only the plants that you grew on the land, then it maybe possible to construct a garden as a display area. If you stray from selling your own produce or import any hard landscaping materials on to the land you will need planning permission.
