Beckley, East Sussex.

You're more than welcome.

Things are moving fast. All the electric cable, water pipe and ducting just arrived. Need to get 150m trench dug and it all in the ground in the next 7-10 days.

Spoke with openreach engineer today about getting the connection put in the same road trench as the power when it goes in, to the same cabinet i've got to build

All the cable and pipework is in the ground now, including ducting for cat5

Electric re-quote came back £300 cheaper (now £4300+VAT), that's now fully paid and hopefully they will get the ball rolling notifying the council of closing the road.

Also had Openreach do a site visit, they're hoping to tie it all in to the same trench on the same day as UKPN, which will be mighty handy, we shall see...

Track and hardstanding fully dug, most crushed concrete (400 tonnes) pushed out, need to do some more and some levelling. The track also needs some drainage as it has wet/soggy spots

Got the cows moved into a shelter, it has a small stock fence front as we used it for the dogs in summer (no perimeter fence!), i've tied the door back and electric fence a little 'garden' for them to nibble on

Spent Sunday knocking some posts in for our entranceway, the posts aren't particularly plumb, they are tiny (63mm) and too small for this new post driver (broken two posts already), it was also a tricky area to navigate with mud off the track and a 20 ton load of crushed concrete in the way too, meaning i kinda had to live with where i got the tractor to within reason

We had a new sow arrive last sunday, a Tamworth. She has been inseparable from the boar this week

Big day on friday, new home came to site :)

Was very worried because i'd taken some trees out to make room and the digger promptly broke down before i could backfill the hole.

I had to get some sleepers and bridge the gap, luckily it worked a treat and both units got off the road fine

Well done it looks like it's coming on well , it sure makes life easier when you have 3 yrs temp to get on without looking over your shoulder all the time
The guy in the trainers looks like it's his first day on the job

It was ridiculous, two of the guys came back to trim up the next day still in trainers!!!

Big day for us yesterday, we did the Tenterden Christmas Market.

Alarm went off at 5.30am, i did the farm while Charley sorted all dogs and cats and finished loading the truck and chiller trailer.

We were there to set up about 8.30am and the market officially started at 10am. It finished at 8pm and of course we had to break everything down, go home to some very bored dogs (they had been visited by a friend during the long day!!) and i still had to get changed and go back out to do the farm.

Needless to say very, very tired last night and even more so now after a day collecting free shed panels with the trailer

Been too busy to post here or blog unfortunately, but the news is: WE'RE ON SITE!

woop!

Enjoying it, the twin unit caravan is very pleasant as we've opened up the kitchen/lounge into one and put in a new boiler/cylinder. So we have heating and all the normal daily luxuries.

It's very handy, already put the cows back 4 times and our first pig escapee once as well. I would not have been here for that were we not living here (i work from home)

That's nice to hear. It's been hard, the time between mid-December to last week was the hardest time of my life, the christmas rush and then all the work to get the site ready for living was intense.

Yes i work up that way occasioanlly and am originally from Sheppey/Sittingbourne (then ashford)

Lots of change as always, we just sent 5 pigs in the morning for our second big fair at the end of this week (Wealden Times Midsummer fair, in Rolvenden, kent).

I took last week off to build this:

Walk in freezer and chiller, just got the freezer wired up and working yesterday afternoon as we're desperate for it this week, need to get the floor down and joints sealed in the next day or two

In addition, out of the cows pictured above, the two guernsey's are in the freezer as veal and the two sussex's have just passed their TB test along with new dairy herd calves for this year's veal

We also rehomed these guys to help with the grass
