the next door farmer told me, a track was necessary on the grounds of getting food to animals….

I agree, just make sure you dig and lay the stone the same day ,if it gets wet the mud comes up and the stone goes down
Can't you just add the tracks to your pd app ? I did a large car park and lane 100 m to the barn , all passed no problem !

If you put terram (membrane) under the hardcore it allows drainage but stops your hardcore sinking into the soil and the soil rising up through the harcore.

my neighbour, is extending his business land at the moment, basically taking down a cliff 
…i am going down today, maybe he will give me a truck load , just to do a temp job on the entrance,
