Hi I currently have two entrances via a bridle way. When pulling out onto the main road it is only safe to turn left as you don't have a clear view to the right. I would like to put an entrance through the middle of my field to give me a clear view either way. I spoke to planning about it and they said it was a dangerous road and highways would need a reason for the entrance. I currently have two horses on the land. Would you now of a suitable reason for the entrance Before I put in planning please. I have bought the book and have emailed admin the last two words on page two.

The reason would be for increased visibility when entering and leaving your field, from both your point of view and that of other road users. Highways will approve should this be the case and to be sure of a result just contact the Highways Dept and show them a map of the proposed entrance before going to planning they may even suggest a better position. This will strengthen your case with planning.

There is a highways streetmap link somewhere that shows the relative distances that need to be achieved accoring to speed, which can only be acurately achieved by undertaking a speed evaluation check where the traffic is measured over a 1hr period, not rush hours usualy mid morning I believe they then remove the top 10 or 20% of the speeds putting that down to maniacs they take the average from that.Costs about £100.It also shows you slays needed at 2.4m from highways edge

Dont forget it can act against you if its a fast road usually people slow down if someone is pointing a camera at them especially if you loiter around with a flourescent jacket pointing at cars as they approach.
Keep hitting the boxes above and changing the font or bold or underlining doh !

Ok I've had a little bit of luck I have been allowed to take down a 3rd of my hedgerow to improve current entrance. Im still after my own entrance but I feel half the battle has been won. As they say slowly slowly catch the monkey...... Or something like that ;)
