Hi all Does anyone out there have any experience of either using a wollen mill or processing there own wool. Seems a shame not to add value to any of our enterprises.

Hi,  We use a mini mill in North Wales called NORWEFT. They process smaller amounts for small breeders. You dont have to have 25kgs in the same colour. They guarentee to return your own fleece to you. We package it up, put in a note saying whether we want it as 4 ply, double knitting etc, with our name and address and they do the rest. If there is any problem with your fleece, they will ring you and suggest other ways of processing it.
I would recommend them. There are others around but I only have experience of another that was closer to home but they really b******* it up.....not recommended !!!!

A small drum carder isn't very expensive and this would then allow you to make felted items on a small scale easily. I'm not sure if spinning your own wool would work out economical, but maybe with an electronic spinner, http://www.fibrecraf...0&PID=0&Action=
has lots of the required kit, if a bit expensive.
