We received our first letter today asking the following (shortened):

1 Please confirm you are engaged in constructing the approved barn and how many hours you expect to work on it each week?

2 Please confirm when you expect to start and finish?

3 Please confirm the caravan will be removed and the residential (?) use will cease as building work has finished

4 Please confirm that only you and anyone else employed in the construction of the barn will reside in the caravan. If anyone else including family members does reside there then planning permission will be required.

Looking forwards to early reply.

A little background.

We moved on site a month ago and have started the base for our barn and today put up the first post. We have been allowed a fully wooden barn, which will be constructed "bespoke" on site by the very "inexperienced" craftsman, me. (hasten to add I actually have a degree in aeronautical engineering and a licensed aircraft engineer plus a pub licensee and long time small holder!

Answer to the first I believe should read along the lines as, Yes, and full time!

2 Started and how longs a piece of..................answers on a post card!!

3 Help

4 This one gets me a little. All our adult children have left home but 2 remain, a 16 year old and a 10 year year old. Added to this my wife is disabled with a nasty lung disease called Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (long story which when I start my diary will be explained) and as such is on DLA and IB so can not work. In reality as with many people considered disabled she is capable of limited work in small amounts at her pace and in her time. I need to be near her in case she suffers a bad attack, I'm her registered carer. She can help me added to which act as site manager. But I do not wish to say she is actively "working" the construction as one she is not and two this could be used by the benefit people saying she is capable of work, which is incorrect. As I mentioned I am her carer and as such DO need to be close at all times as her condition is life threatening and we have had a few close calls. I hasten to add this is mainly her idea as we have had smallholdings for many years but our circumstances changed (see my forthcoming diary) and we have had to start over.

Any thoughts on the reply I should put in and how long before I do it!

I do not wish to upset the EO anymore than necessary as I do believe (though not trust) he appears reasonable.

Thanks in advance

Grant
