Hi

I have ordered the book but too impatient to wait to find out the answer!

We currently have 13 acres with 6 mobile stables (used for storage), menage, stable block and barn.

We use the land solely for our 4 horses. Is it possible to change the land over to agricultural to start a small holding in order to gain PP for a dwelling?

We are located on the National Park (South Downs). When we purchased the land it only had the 6 mobile stables and our PP was refused for the stable block and menage but on appeal was granted 6 years ago.

We also have a small tour caravan which we use as a coffee room and hasn't moved for 3 years with no objections from nosey neighbors! We also store our other caravan there which is used for holidays.

We have a couple of residential houses across the bridlepath from us.

We have never tried to apply for PP as we have been told it is not worth it because of its location, it would not be granted.

It is such an idyllic location that we would do anything to live there.

Any input gratefully received! :)

Girlie,

Having just read this question we have doubts as to whether you will get planning permission for a dwelling in the 'New' South Down National Park.

National Parks have very restrictive covenants regarding buildings of any sort.

The book advises against National Parks along with AONB etc.

Now you should have the book please register as a book owner to get full benefit from the site.

We have been issued with an Enforcement Order. One said we needed change of use because we had horses. No one has been to see us or asked what our intentions are. "no evidence of other stock in the field" At the time of the visit (over the gate!) there were 27 sheep at the bottom of the field. We have Oxford Sandy Black sows (due early Sept.) , and laying chickens. Why should we need to change use from Agricultural to Equine? We have 3 mobile buildings on metal skids not fixed to ground at all but have been told that they must be moved regularly.regardless of ground conditions. Now that court proceedings have finished for now the council says we can apply for planning. Any advice would be very welcome

We are sorry to learn about the Enforcement Order but at the same time are surprised at the reasons behind it.

Do you have the book? Because, if so, you should send a pm to a Moderator with the last word on Page 2 and this will then mean that you can be classed as a Book Owner which will give you access to all the Forums and in particular those under the section for Planning Permission Advice Forums with all the information contained thereunder.
