Suggest the moderation team create a new topic called abbreviations in the general chat area and makes it 'pinned' so it stays on top.

Then add abbreviations alphabetically to the list.

If you get enough information in there I'll put an advert somewhere more prominent telling people that this list exists while they browse the site.

I was reading an article which mentioned PLI and found that this abbreviation is not mentioned in the list but that it means Profitable Lifetime Index.  The article I was reading was about a bull that had been condemned but whose owners won their case to keep him.

Interestingly enough the article I mentioned was included in Stackyard News and one of the latest titbits from them is about NOAH. This apparently stands for National Office of Animal Health. The second paragraph says

Phil Sketchley, Chief Executive of NOAH, said a unified communications strategy was necessary between organisations such as the Food Standards Agency, the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD), the Responsible Use of Medicines in Agriculture Alliance (RUMA), NOAH, the British Retail Consortium (BRC), IGD and the NFU among others.

Just thought this would be interesting as some of those abbreviations are not mentioned in the original list.

We recommend Stackyard News to other members of the Forum. Most of it is not applicable to our situations, but every so often something that might be useful turns up. A word of warning though - they love abbreviations!

For instance..."Any cattle identified as persistently infected (PI) with Bovine Virus Diarrhoea (BVD) should go directly to slaughter as soon as possible and should not be sold in the open market or used for breeding." and then they go on to say, "This is the advice from experts advising the England Bovine Virus Diarrhoea stakeholder group, funded by the Rural Development Plan for England (RDPE) and coordinated by the DairyCo division of the Agriculture & Horticulture Development Board (AHDB)."
