Hi Shepie,

I would check to see she isn't egg bound first. If you have a good feel around her vent, if she has an oval swelling, it is likely she is egg bound. If she isn't, try giving her cider vinegar in her water if you don't already and also add vitamins to her feed and see if that helps. You might also want to keep her away from your other chickens just in case she has something nasty and you don't want to infect the rest of your stock.

If she is egg bound, you will be able to feel it by gently pushing around the vent, you will feel an oval lump. She will also keep trying to push it out. If she is egg bound, the best thing to do is to lubricate all around her vent and see she has plenty to drink. Hopefully, she will lay the egg. Last resort will be the vet. He will insert a needle into the egg and remove all the contents and the egg will colapse. The only problem with doing this is if the shell is sharp and cuts her inside as it can cause even more problems.

Hi well the chuck was in better condition this morning but i could feel an egg below the vent so i applied a bit of lube and gave it some cider vinager , but tonight it was all puffed up like a football and not moving with it`s eyes closed ? don`t know if it`s drunk or worse ? will have to go to the vets tomorrow if it`s still with us .

Yes groundhog i have some good friends at mole valley already ha ha , we already have sheep and a ram/ sow and boar and some machinery like topper / hayturner , tractors and trailer etc .. so just need to buy about 20 - 25 acres on good dry fertile ground , was also offered some bees today so think i will take them up on that offer .

I will do a diary steeve but as with all house sales at the momeny you may have to wait a while
