Please can you tell me if we can site a mobile home (log cabin) at an existing stables ?

There are existing high quality stable buildings for four horses and excercise yard at the location.

The mobile home is to provide living accommodation on the site whilst the business is developed.

The site is 4.3 acres.

Many thanks for your help

Unless you have any building work to be undertaken, you willl need to apply for Planning Permission
you will have to show a functional need to live on the land ie you are going to set up as an equine nursing home that sort of thing.

You may have to provide financial details of the enterprise.

You should apply for temporary permission in the first instance as I doubt they will grant Full Planning Permission on your first attempt.

You may be more succesful if you are located in one of the equine areas of the country ie Newmarket or Cheltenham as local planners are more likely to be horse biased.

We've just had planning permission through for a block of three wooden stables but are beginning to have second thoughts about having them built or not.
We've had a price of £4000 pounds for them fitted but in addition there will also be a hefty bill for the concrete block that they are to sit on.
There maybe a future house move in the offing and while we would get a lot of use out of them, how long for is a question we don't have the answer to.
The same company also has a offer on at the moment for two mobile stables on skids that can be towed around. They are definately stables and not field shelters. They obviously wouldn't have concrete floors in them and the horses would be on dry soil, no electricity or automatic waterers etc
The mobile stables would be around a third of the price of the fixed ones and could presumably be dismantled and transported if and when we move. Does anyone have experience of keeping horses in mobile stables ? There'd be nothing to stop us fixing the mobile ones to an existing concrete block when we move.
