Dave.....just read your book and gobsmacked about the possibility of being able to live on our land for a possible 5 year period while we construct our barn. The planners have ok'd our application for both a barn and a polytunnel within the one nofication and which are in the region of 10-15m apart.

We are wanting to change the materials/construction of the barn from an all steel building to low block walls and timber, whilst still keeping the steel roof. Do you think the planners may request a whole new application or hopefully just sending in a revised drawing?

Also once we come to construct on the land does the building need to be precisely accurate to the drawings or would there be a degree of flexiblity (within reason)?

I have also spoken recently with a planning consultant for some initial advice and he is suggesting that I put together a detailed package of information outlining our plans for our smallholding, that we are wishing to live on the land and also mentioning the possibility of living on the land in a mobile home whilst the barn is being constructed. And submit this as an initial enquiry to the planners for their thoughts. Do you think this is wise???
