Hi, we have just received the field to farm book which gives us hope to live our smallholding dream! We have found some land which has some very run down stables on it, they are currently made of breeze block and stone. Are we able to put a mobile home on the site while we renovate the stables into something we could use for our smallholding business? Also, there is another plot with planning permission to build a new stable block, so can we put a mobile home on that one while we build the new stable block again with the idea of using the new stable block for our new smallholding business?

Hi
If you follow the book you will find that you can live on the land whilst engaged in the building work on any type of structure so it doesn't matter if they are stables or a barn, whether you are building or renovating so long as you are involved in the work, but read the book properly first.

This makes sense 100%, is there any time limit to do this - I understand the guidence about permitted development in that there is no 'official' rule as to how long it must take, would this be the same for the stables listed above or something that is simmilar?
